Multiple Teams · Lady Scorpions Finish Strong

Here are summaries from the final two games of the regular season. This is a long email – my apologies.
We hosted Lake Havasu last Friday. The freshman and varsity teams got wins.
“The freshman girls played a well fought game on Friday against Lake Havasu. They were down 6 coming into the 3rd quarter when our defense made Lake Havasu turn the ball over giving us the opportunity to score 3 layups tying the game. This inspired the girls to keep playing hard. The last 3 minutes of the game we were down 2 points we were able to score after stealing ball and take the lead. We were able to hold on to our lead and win the game!! 🙂

Tyra Miles had her season high in scoring with 12 points. All of the girls played a great game and contributed in our win.” Coach Engle
The varsity team defeated Lake Havasu 70-19. The defensive pressure really got to the Knights and we capitalized frequently on their turnovers.
Stat leaders:
Haley 22 pts, 5 rebs, 8 stls, 3 assts
Kenzie 15 pts, 6 rebs, 7 stls
Karina 13 pts, 8 rebs, 4 stls
Kiara 3 stls
Jalaya 5 stls
Last night, we played Verrado and celebrated our seniors. The JV and varsity teams came out victorious.
“Samyia Davis lead the DE Scorpions JV team in all categories as they close the season with a Victory over the Verrado Vipers. Davis had 12 points, 6 steals, to go along with 3 rebounds. Amayah Manning chipped in with 11 points, as Madison Gardner finished the night with 6 points and 2 assists.
Defense was once again a key to the Scorpions victory. The game broke open in the third quarter, an 8-minute period during which Desert Edge out scored their guests 16-2 before finishing with a more pedestrian 14-8 final stanza.

DE just came with too much, though.

In all, 8 different players notched at least one basket on a night that the DE Scorpions would not be denied as they finished the season winning their last 3 out 4 games as they head into the off season with a promising future.” Coach Hughes
The varsity team used a 26-11 run in the 2nd quarter to create a nice lead going into the half and ended up with a 62-42 victory to close out the regular season.
Stat leaders:
Kenzie 20 pts, 5 stls
Karina 15 pts, 5 rebs
Haley 12 rebs, 3 stls
Jalaya 5 rebs
Kiara 3 stls
Zana 3 stls
The ladies finished region play with a 9-1 record and 14-4 record in power points games. They are ranked #8 in state and earned an automatic bid to the state playoffs for the 2nd year in a row. We find out who we host on Sunday.
