Christina Sausedo delivered a game-high 15 points including 4 steals, Mia Hernandez added 14 points and the Desert Edge JV Girls basketball team notched its second win, in a 54-30 home-opening defeat versus Yonkers on Thursday night at the Scorpion Palace.

The Scorpions made no mistake about the result against Yonkers, opening the game with an 18-2 run, that was capped off by a 19’ foot first quarter buzzer beater by Anysia Gallegos who ended the night also in double figures scoring 10 points and 4 of 4 from the charity stripe.
Hernandez then caught fire, hitting from distance on back-to-back possessions as Desert Edge carried a 29-7 lead at the half.
The second half saw the DE Scorpions lead swell to 34 points as Coach Brent emptied his bench midway through the fourth quarter. The DE Scorpions had 7 different players in the scoring column.
