Tuesday night Cactus game recap: Coach Lovely

Last night the Scorpion basketball program traveled up the 101 to compete against Cactus in a Desert West Region game.  After battling back and forth the entire first half the Scorpions pulled ahead with a 21 pt third quarter giving the Scorpions the lead 47 – 40 at the end of the 3rd period.  As the 4th period progressed the score tightened up with just under 3 minutes left in the game, the Scorpions led by 2 pts; 55 – 53.  Running a 4 corner delay to run time off the clock Cactus was forced to foul, putting DE at the line shooting free throws.  When the final buzzer sounded the Scorpions had recorded their biggest win of the season 64 – 55.  This moved the Scorpions to 1 – 1 in region play, 6 – 4 in conference play and 11 – 6 overall.  The varsity’s victory completed another program sweep for the season.
